Jochem Ruarus (b. 1994, The Netherlands) is an artist living and working in Amsterdam and student at the design department of the Sandberg Institute. The work of Jochem Ruarus impregnates our fiction with an in your face mentality. As a result, his work sneaks in like a trojan horse to grab us at our core and gut feeling. His approach summons the debate, perhaps not while staring at the work or with the people standing next to you, but exactly at that moment, alone in bed, when you can't sleep. He fragments modern society into 5k resolution, conceptualized interventions and speculating statements influenced by counter-cultures, science-fiction storytelling and melancholic realism. Fighting old capitalistic systems throughout art and design as an urge to contribute, infiltrate and disobey.
